More explanation about "debts" was explained by JESUS in Luke's gospel:

The key is FORGIVENESS.

If we ask JESUS for forgiveness, we must also forgive.

That our debts may be canceled by the LORD.

That we may be "set free" from sin, and all wrongdoing.

The Bible says, all of us have sinned.

Romans 3:23

King James Version

23 For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;

Thus, ALL of us have debts.

And are debtors.

The GOOD news is that JESUS has canceled all the debts of sinners who believe in Him.

Colossians 2:13-14

King James Version

13 And you,

being dead in your sins

and the uncircumcision of your flesh,

hath he quickened together with him,

having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances

that was against us,

which was contrary to us,

and took it out of the way,

nailing it to his cross;
