CREATURE worship

 Romans 1:25

King James Version

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie,

and worshipped and served the creature

more than the Creator,

who is blessed for ever.

Amen.

The Bible was clear:

WORSHIP GOD, not the creature.

But what does "creature" mean?

Let's turn to the Bible versions:

Romans 1:25

Christian Standard Bible

25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

Contemporary English Version

25 They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

Easy-to-Read Version

25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They bowed down and worshiped the things God made instead of worshiping the God who made those things. He is the one who should be praised forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

Expanded Bible

25 They ·traded [exchanged] the truth of God for ·a lie [or the lie; see Gen. 3:4–5] and worshiped and served ·the creation [or the creature; or created things] instead of the Creator, who ·should be praised [or is blessed] forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

GOD’S WORD Translation

25 These people have exchanged God’s truth for a lie. So they have become ungodly and serve what is created rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen!

Romans 1:25

Good News Translation

25 They exchange the truth about God for a lie; they worship and serve what God has created instead of the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever! Amen.

Romans 1:25

Holman Christian Standard Bible

25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

Living Bible

25 Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they prayed to the things God made, but wouldn’t obey the blessed God who made these things.

Romans 1:25

New Century Version

25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and served what had been created instead of the God who created those things, who should be praised forever. Amen.

Romans 1:25

New International Version

25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Romans 1:25

New Life Version

25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and cared for what God made instead of worshiping the God Who made it. He is the One Who is to receive honor and thanks forever. Let it be so.

Romans 1:25

New Living Translation

25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

Kehillah in Rome 1:25

Orthodox Jewish Bible

25 They traded in HaEmes Hashem (the Truth of G-d) for sheker, for a lie, and worshiped and served HaBri’ah (the Creature, the Creation) rather than HaBo’re (the Creator), hamvorach l’olamim. Omein (who is blessed forever. Amen).

Romans 1:25

Worldwide English (New Testament)

25 They would not believe what was true about God. They believed a lie. They worshipped and worked for something that was made by God. They did not worship God - God who made all things. He is the one to worship for ever. Amen. May it be so!

WHICH version best explains KJV?

Despite the slight variations, you get the idea.

GOD has authority over EVERYTHING.

Everything is PRECIOUS in His eyes.

Why does this verse matter?

Because of what GOD said afterwards:

Matthew 10:30-31

King James Version

30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 Fear ye not therefore,

ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Such is GOD's love for His creation.

ESPECIALLY for man.

We understand, from the verse, that it will "stand in the holy place".

If JESUS said this "abomination of desolation" will "stand in the holy place", then this abomination is the same spoken of by apostle Paul:

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

King James Version

3 Let no man deceive you by any means:

for that day shall not come,

except there come a falling away first,

and that man of sin be revealed,

the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself

above all that is called God,

or that is worshipped;

so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,

shewing himself that he is God.

This is also the same abomination spoken of by prophet Daniel:

Daniel 8:23-25

King James Version

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom,

when the transgressors are come to the full,

a king of fierce countenance,

and understanding dark sentences,

shall stand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty,

but not by his own power:

and he shall destroy wonderfully,

and shall prosper,

and practise,

and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his policy also

he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand;

and he shall magnify himself in his heart,

and by peace shall destroy many:

he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;

but he shall be broken without hand.

Daniel 9:27

King James Version

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many

for one week:

and in the midst of the week

he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,

and for the overspreading of abominations

he shall make it desolate,

even until the consummation,

and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 11:31

King James Version

31 And arms shall stand on his part,

and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength,

and shall take away the daily sacrifice,

and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Daniel 12:11

King James Version

11 And from the time

that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away,

and the abomination that maketh desolate set up,

there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
